3rd Gen Idol Hits #1 On Melon For The First Time Almost A Decade After Debuting
Congratulations on the achievement!
Many songs have unexpectedly risen on the charts, like some of Day6’s tracks recently did in late 2024.
3rd Generation Boy Group Finally Sees 7-Year Old Song Charting In Top 10
Recently, a male idol achieved his first number one on the Melon 100 chart, years after his debut and the song’s release!
The boy group UNIQ debuted in 2014, leaving a lasting impact despite only promoting as a group for a short period. As the members focused on individual activities, member Seungyoun (now known as WOODZ) did the same, releasing music before his appearance on Produce X 101. The idol placed high enough to join the short-lived X1, but continued his solo career under the name WOODZ after the group was disbanded.

The idol began his military service in January 2024 and was serving in the Army band when a track he performed during an event suddenly shot up the charts. The track, “Drowning,” was released in April 2023, and managed to jump up by over 700 spots on the Melon Daily Chart in just a few days.
On May 7, “Drowning” finally hit number one on Melon‘s Top 100 Chart. This is the first time he has achieved this feat since making his debut as a solo artist — while a member of X1, the group achieved a number 1 with their debut track.

Many congratulated the idol on his track’s recent rise, and are excited for the future following his enlistment!
WOODZ is schedule to be discharged from the military in less than three months, and already has a performance scheduled.
