BLACKPINK Disbandment Buzz Reignites After Plans For YG Entertainment’s New Girl Group Announcement

YG shared plans for all of its current trainees.
After a new update, fans have questioned BLACKPINK‘s fate as a group again.

With BLACKPINK focused on solo activities for the last year, plans for their upcoming group promotions have been highly anticipated. So far, the group has announced plans for new music ahead of their DEADLINE world tour.

However, fans have grown discontent with the lack of updates and clarity surrounding their comeback. Recently, Yang Hyun Suk shared multiple announcements about YG artists, including an update about BLACKPINK’s activities that sparked anger among fans.

Also detailed in the video was information about the current trainees at the company. After discussing the number of male trainees, Yang’s attention turned to the girls, sharing there was a group that he was eager to debut.
He mentioned that the four members of the group had already been confirmed, with plans to introduce them soon.
The ending of the video revealed that the first member of YG’s new girl group would be announced on May 28, KST.

While companies introducing new groups is expected, this announcement was met with surprise. It has been about one year since BABYMONSTER debuted, a short time between announcements for a same gendered new group.

BLACKPINK fans were also taken aback by the announcement, including the detail that the group would have four members. Some even felt the company is trying to debut a “new BLACKPINK,” as suspicions of the group’s possible disbandment after the tour grew.
