Image Of KFC’s Colonel Sanders Confuses Facial Recognition Scanner

Facial recognition scanners might be everywhere these days, but it seems a good old fashion lock and key might still has its place.
In a video posted to Reddit by shenzhendasha, a facial recognition scanner in China seemed like it needed a software update after it was seen incessantly beeping “Recognition failed”.
But no, it wasn’t someone trying to sneak in, but a picture of Colonel Sanders printed on the scaffolding of a KFC outlet across the street.
While the scaffolding and the logo are probably temporary, we can only imagine how much more confused the scanner will get when the LED signage is installed.
That will be one noisy false alarm.
Netizens had a laugh with many saying that the facial recognition scanner was just doing its job.
“It technically isn’t wrong because it’s a face, right?” one commentor joked.
Another sympathized with the security staff, writing, “I think they’ll have a heart attack when they check the warning logs the next morning”.
Well, who complains about Colonel Sanders trying to break in, right?
