Chinese Actor Called “Uncultured” For Pushing Away Umbrella Held By Assistant ‘Cos It Was Blocking Him

His fans, however, argued that it’s not a big deal since it’s “not like he pushed his assistant away”.

Do celebrities really need to start taking note of how they behave in public?

Recently, Chinese actor He Yu found himself becoming the target of online vitriol, no thanks to a video of him circulating on Weibo.

The 28-year-old Paladin Legend star was heading to set for his upcoming period drama, Blossoms of Power, and was filmed walking out of a building towards his car.

Just as He Yu stepped out of the building, his assistant quickly held up a gigantic black umbrella to shield him from the sun.

However, the brolly accidentally blocked He Yu’s vision, prompting the star, who was walking with one hand in his pocket, to push the umbrella away with the other.

His assistant then kept the umbrella before trailing behind He Yu.

While the actor’s gesture may seem trivial to most, some netizens have apparently taken offense.

They criticised He Yu for being “uncultured” and for “putting up airs”.

“If he doesn’t push the umbrella away how can his fans see him acting [cool] while putting his hand in his pocket,” a netizen scoffed.

His supporters, on the other hand, tried their best to defend the star.

“He only pushed the umbrella, it’s not like he pushed his assistant. Plus it really did block his vision, there’s no need to put this on the Internet right?,” argued a fan.

Maybe next time he should just hold his own umbrella….

This does look like what a prince would do in a period drama. Maybe He Yu was just in character since he does play a crown prince in Blossoms of Power?
