Celebrity Couple Divorces One Year After Getting Married

They personally broke the news.

After saying “I do” in 2024, a celebrity couple had now officially ended their marriage.

On January 3, 2024, Hirano Aya–the Japanese voice actress for Haruhi Suzumiya‘s title character, Death Note’s Misa Amane, and more–announced her marriage to Japanese actor Taniguchi Masashi. Taniguchi is best known for playing the role of Nagare Tatsumi/GoBlue in the series Kyukyu Sentai GoGoFive. Kyukyu Sentai GoGoFive‘s footage was used for the American television series Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue.

Since Hirano and Taniguchi co-starred in the 2023 stage production of Chainsaw Man, fans dubbed their nuptials the “Chainsaw Man Wedding.”

On September 11, 2024, the couple announced that they were in negotiations for a divorce. On August 5, Taniguchi and Hirano confirmed on social media that their marriage is over, now that the paperwork has been filed.

We’ve officially filed for divorce as of August 5, 2025. To everyone who may have been affected or concerned by earlier reports or developments — we hope this announcement brings some closure.
