Nurse and bank exec killed in two accidents on way to motorbike event

KUANTAN: Two people have been killed while travelling to a gathering of motorcycle enthusiasts taking place in Terengganu.

In the first incident, a bank sales executive was killed after the motorcycle he was riding skidded and crashed on Jalan Palong 8 here.

Bera police chief Supt Zulkiflee Nazir said that the incident occurred at about 6.30am on Friday (Aug 22).

The victim, Mohd Syukri Shahrudin, 33, was riding his motorcycle from Rembau, Negri Sembilan to Terengganu to attend a bike enthusiasts’ gathering on Saturday (Aug 23).

“Investigations found that the victim was supposed to turn right at a T-junction but instead went straight and ran into a slope on the road shoulder.

“He sustained severe injuries to his head and hands and was pronounced dead at the scene,” Zulkiflee said in a statement.

It is understood that the victim was travelling in a convoy of about 60 other motorcycles was at the front of the group.

Zulkiflee said the victim’s body was taken to the Bera Hospital Forensic Unit for a post-mortem and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

In KUALA BERANG, a nurse was killed after the bike she was riding skidded at KM394 of the East Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2) on her way to the same event.

Hulu Terengganu district police chief Superintendent Sharudin Abdul Wahab said the victim, Roslinawati Ramli, 33, ed at the scene due to cranial injuries.

He said initial investigations revealed that the victim, who was riding her husband’s motorcycle, left Simpang Renggam, Johor at about 1am on Friday before the accident occurred at about noon.

The victim was travelling in a convoy with 13 other motorcycles.

“The victim from Felda Tementi, Triang, Pahang, lost control of her motorcycle, skidded and fell onto the road,” he said when contacted on Friday.

Sharudin said the victim’s body was taken to the Hulu Terengganu Hospital’s forensic unit for further action and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Police advised participants of the RXZ Members 7.0 programme to be more careful and ride cautiously to avoid unwanted incidents.

Bernama previously reported that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Aug 18 announced a RM100,000 allocation to support the RXZ Members 7.0 2025 programme. – Bernama
