Five remanded over RM400,000 false claims involving cattle
SEGAMAT: Five individuals, including three civil servants, have been remanded for six days until Sept 15 for an investigation over false claims of about RM400,000 involving cattle.
The remand order was issued by Magistrate Rahimah Abd Majid after an application from the Johor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at the Segamat Sessions Court on Wednesday (Sept 10) morning.
According to sources, the five suspects, comprising a woman and four men aged from 30 to 60, were arrested separately on Tuesday (Sept 9) while giving statements to the Segamat MACC between 11am and 2pm.
They are suspected of conspiring to certify and submit documents containing fake details related to the payment of heifers to two statutory bodies in Johor in February 2023, even though they were never delivered.
Meanwhile, Johor MACC director Hairuzam Mohmad Amin@Hamim, confirmed the matter and said the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009. – Bernama
