When Taiwanese pop diva Jolin Tsai revealed on her Pleasure Talks podcast back in August that she keeps her youthful glow by retiring for the night at 9:30pm, she never expected it to go viral.
Previously, the ‘DIY’ singer who turned 45 on Monday (Sept 15) talked about her early bedtime with Taiwanese star Wu Qing Feng, 42, and Singapore singer, Tanya Chua, 50.
But having enough beauty sleep is for health reasons too. Jolin revealed that going to bed earlier happened following a 2018 health scare when she contracted shingles.
“Back then, my immune system was weak. I used to stay up every night until 6am, then sleep until the afternoon,” she recalled.
“But even though I was only in my 30s, I realised my body couldn’t take it anymore. Everyone thought late nights, and partying were cool and trendy, but I realised I just couldn’t do it,” Jolin added.
Now, for anyone who wants to take a shot at going to bed earlier, but are finding it difficult to adjust, Jolin shared her secret weapon for winding down for the day.
And it is surprisingly simple.
Her secret? Walking.
“Go somewhere you like and slowly wind down from being ‘high’ on your phone,” she says, adding that it helps organise her thoughts and learn to better manage herself.
Jolin says that it is more effective than running, especially how calming it is for breathing.
Fans were loving the tip; with many pledging they will take an evening stroll before bed.
One even joked, “Anyone who can’t sleep by 930pm will be rushing for a walk.”
