Farit one of the most recognisable faces on Malaysian television and most of you would’ve probably seen him as a broadcaster on RTM’s news bulletins in the early 1990s.

He had joined RTM in 1986 and was also the voice behind several famous television advertisements, including Dunhill’s commercial tagline “Gaya, Mutu, Keunggulan” when tobacco brands were allowed to advertise.

Also known as “the man with the golden voice”, he was an almost permanent feature on RTM’s Dunia Jam 10, an hour-long bulletin dedicated to world news. Colleagues at RTM fondly remember him as Pak Ngah.

“He was always willing to help anyone who sought his advice or help, especially the new TV presenters. He may look like a stern guy, but deep down he was very soft spoken and friendly,” Harjit Singh Hullon, one of Farit’s colleagues.

“Loss of a true friend I must say.”

RIP Farit. How many of you remember him on tv?
