Indian Actor Dilip Kumar Dies at Age 98

Dilip Kumar, a legendary Indian actor, has sadly passed away at the age of 98, according to multiple reports.

Via local newspapers, his family and doctor revealed that Dilip died on Wednesday morning (June 30) at a Mumbai hospital after a prolonged illness.

Reports added that he had been in and out of the hospital for the past month after being first admitted with breathlessness and then diagnosed with bilateral pleural effusion, which is a build-up of excess fluid between the layers of the pleura outside the lungs.

Dilip is regarded as the finest actor India has ever produced.

He had a career that spanned five decades, and starred in many classic films of Indian cinema.

Dilip was awarded the inaugural Filmfare Award for best actor in 1954, and is tied with Shah Rukh Khan for most wins at eight.

Dilip was married to actor Saira Banu, since 1966. They had no children.
