Magnolia Network’s New ‘Fixer Upper: Welcome Home’ Series Squashes Previous DIY Network Ratings In Debut
Fixer Upper is still the king of home renovation shows, and that was proven within seconds of it premiering on the new Magnolia Network at the start of the year.
In a new report, the new iteration of the show, Fixer Upper: Welcome Home, smashed all of DIY Network‘s previous records.
Magnolia formally took over DIY Network at the start of the year, dropping a line of brand new series to launch the new channel, which is a joint venture between Discovery and Chip and Joanna Gaines.
With the first two episodes of the show, which premiered on January 5 and another one just a week later, took over all of the previous ratings record-holder from the DIY channel, which was a 2013 episode of Holmes Makes It Right.
Nielsen’s Live + 3 Day measurement (via The Wrap) reports that the cable premiere of Fixer Upper: Welcome Home drew more than 1.7 million viewers, which is almost a 400% improvement over DIY’s 2021 primetime average.
Magnolia Network was involved in a bit of controversy when it first launched.
