MOH Releases Statement On Najib’s Health; Was Daughter Yana Lying?
There’s been some talks about VIPs getting special treatments. It’s completely understandable for people to think so because of who these VIPs are and it’s hard not to think that people might treat them differently without even realising. Recently, netizens speculated that Siti Nurhaliza’s daughter was receiving special treatment at school to which she denied.
Another VIP that people are concern of getting special treatment is former Prime Minister Najib Razak who got arrested and was sentenced to jail for corruption and abuse of power. His daughter Yana recently posted on her Instagram and made strong claims about how her father is being mistreated and denied medical needs.
It was previously reported that Najib Razak was hospitalised due to a stomach ulcer, a recurring health issue he’s been dealing with for years. Yana posted on her Instagram to update her father’s current health condition. In the lengthy post, she claimed that Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) denied her father’s request for medical observation and discharged him. She also said that the doctors changed his medication before he was sent back to prison.
According to Yana, the change in medication caused the former Prime Minister to be hospitalised again. “On humanitarian grounds, our family pleads with the prison authority, the hospital and DS Ismail Sabri’s government to do the right thing and allow for dad to receive proper medical care and observation 🤲🏼🙏🏻,” she said in her post.
The Ministry of Health of Malaysia (MOH) released a statement to address the claims made by Najib’s daughter. According to the statement, Najib was admitted to HKL but his case classified under elective, not emergency. He has been tested by experts and was in good health to be discharged. As for claims he was denied medical observations, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin clarified that “No inmate will be denied their fundamental right in terms of access to healthcare and this includes Datuk Seri Najib.”
Netizens were not happy by the claims made by Najib’s daughter as they believe she’s just doing this to gain sympathy as part of her efforts to prove her father’s innocence. Previously in an IG story post, she expressed how she feels bad that her father isn’t able to enjoy his usual Starbucks drink which received criticisms from netizens on Twitter.
