Ari Lennox ‘Auditions’ to Play Tiana in ‘Princess & the Frog’ Live Action Remake, Covers One of Her Hits

Ari Lennox is ready to play a Disney princess in a live action movie.

Amid whispers and rumors that Disney is gearing up for a live action remake of their 2009 retelling of The Princess and the Frog, the 31-year-old hitmaker threw her name in the hat to play Tiana.

She did so by sharing a video of herself covering one of the songs from the movie.

Taking to Twitter on Monday (March 20), Ari wrote to Disney, saying that she “would love an opportunity to audition for Princess and The Frog in person.”

To prove she had the vocal chops and charisma for the role, she covered the song “Almost There,” which was originally performed by Tiana actress Anika Noni Rose. Belting out the song in the studio, there’s no denying that Ari delivers!

While a remake of the movie hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, Disney was reportedly developing a spin-off for Disney+ that was set to star Anika again.

Of course, first up is the long-awaited live action retelling of The Little Mermaid starring Halle Bailey as Ariel. The movie arrives on May 26, and you can check out the trailer here.
