‘SNL’ Alum Chris Kattan Announces Engagement to Maria Libri, Shares Proposal Details

Chris Kattan and Maria Libri announced their engagement just over a year after they made their relationship Instagram official.

The 52-year-old Saturday Night Live star confirmed that he popped the question a few weeks ago and shared some sweet details about the big moment.

Chris shared the news on Instagram, revealing that he asked Maria while attending a Wilco concert in Chicago, Illinois. Someone in the audience captured the moment, and the comedian noted that the band played his fiance’s favorite song after she agreed.

“I’ve been planning this out for weeks,” he wrote, adding that “it worked out beautifully.”

The couple opened up about their relationship in an interview with People.

“Maria and I fully accept each other for who we are,” he told the outlet. “It’s not just the things we have in common, we also embrace our quirks and differences — and we don’t love each other in spite of them, we love each other because of them.”

“It’s funny how life works sometimes and gives you gifts when you’re not looking for them,” she shared. “When we met, we were immediately comfortable with one another. Call it weird, mystical or magical, it’s like we’d known each other in a past life. After spending that first day together (though I didn’t know how), I just somehow knew that my life would never be the same after meeting Chris.”
