Introducing The Final Lineup Of YG Entertainment’s Upcoming Girl Group BABYMONSTER

YG founder Yang Hyun Suk revealed the reasons behind the decision!

At the start of the year, YG Entertainment teased the unveiling of their new group BABYMONSTER. From the minute the first teasers were out…

Netizens couldn’t hide their excitement. Since the announcement, the seven trainees showcased their talent and were given advice by some of YG’s biggest stars, including BLACKPINK‘s Jennie and Lisa.

Yet, fans couldn’t hide their shock during the series when it was announced that BABYMONSTER would only have five members, meaning that two wouldn’t make it in the end.

It was announced that the final decision would be released at midnight on May 12 (KST). Ahead of the announcement, the official Twitter account shared a teaser.

After a long wait, the video was released, and YG founder Yang Hyun Suk revealed he would announce the members one by one.

Ahyeon was the first member to be announced, and Yang Hyun Suk couldn’t stop praising the idol for being an all-rounder, even explaining that her skills meant that she had the ability to be a leader.

The next member was Japanese member Ruka. Aside from her unreal popularity being seen by netizens, Ruka was praised for her many charms.

The third member that was announced for the BABYMONSTER lineup was Thai trainee Chiquita. Although she is the youngest with the shortest training time, she was praised for her development and potential.

With more than half the group revealed, the fourth member to be revealed was Haram. The trainee was praised for taking all of the songs she had performed and making them her own!

According to the announcement, the fifth member would be the last, as it was between RoraAsa, and Pharita.

Chosen by all those involved in the process, it was decided that Pharita would help the global image of BABYMONSTER being from Thailand.

When it came to the reasons behind the decision, it was revealed that Rora was too young and could possibly debut with the other trainees as a main vocalist.

For Asa, despite her long trainee period and becoming an all-rounder, they believed that BABYMONSTER wasn’t the right fit for the trainee. In particular, it was revealed that YG was planning to debut a Japanese group and she could be part of that.

However, as expected, the final lineup was completely unexpected as it was revealed that those involved in creating the group had taken into consideration the thoughts of fans.

Much to fans’ excitement, it was revealed that all seven trainees would be debuting in BABYMONSTER.

While it wasn’t a surprise, the final video’s longevity and process made fans worried that YG Entertainment would stick to its promise to only debut five members.
