HANA Drops Cantonese Theme Song for “Legend of the Phoenix”

Voice Entertainment singer Hana Kuk (菊梓喬) was selected to perform the Cantonese theme song for the Chinese romantic comedy Legend of Phoenix <鳳弈>, which also stars Wayne Lai (黎耀祥). The series—produced by Penguin Pictures—centers on a love story between a general and a traveling artist.

Hana was offered to record the song soon after completing her August concert. “That was the first time I got to perform on my own stage,” said Hana when describing her concert. “I was deeply moved. I used to lack confidence, but under the support of my team and the fans, I get to show off my little universe on the stage. Now, I have the confidence to continue my music dream.”

The theme song—aptly titled “Soar Against the Light” <逆光飛翔>—deeply resonates with Hana’s own thoughts and experiences about her concert. The song marks a new beginning for Hana’s rising career—known for performing sad love songs, “Soar Against the Light” sends a positive message—that as long as one does not give up on hope, light will be seen at the end of the tunnel.

“The director wanted me to run through a dark tunnel,” said Hana about the music video. “No matter where I go, there will be light. I hope those who hear the song can also feel its positive energy. Don’t give up on your dreams. There will be a day of success.”

Legend of Phoenix also stars Viva He (何泓姗), Jeremy Tsui (徐正溪), and Cao Xiwen (曹曦文).
