Vivian Hsu, 49, Doesn’t Like Being Called “Eternal Goddess” – Here’s Why

It’s hard to believe that Taiwanese star Vivian Hsu is 49.

The singer-actress, who got her start in showbiz after winning Taiwanese competition show Talented Beautiful Girl in 1990, looks like she’s barely aged since her debut.

Her youthful good looks have earned her the nickname “eternal goddess” — a compliment that most women would be flattered by, just not Vivian.

In fact, she hopes people would stop calling her that.

Earlier this week, she took to Instagram to share behind-the-scenes footage of her music video ‘For You’.

In the caption, she wrote: “I am not a goddess, and I don’t like being called ‘eternal goddess’.”

Sometimes when I post photos, people will leave comments like ‘Time has not been forgiving’, ‘Old already’ and ‘Used to be more beautiful’, I wish that those who leave such comments will live forever and not age.”

Rather than looks, she cares more about continuous learning as “part of a person’s charm comes from fulfilling their inner self”.

“Looks naturally fade with time, but creativity knows no bounds. If my creations can accompany you through some important moments, if some of my works are liked by you, then I’d prefer to be called ‘Talented V’, and I’d be happier that way,” she wrote.

She also urged fans to call her that at her upcoming album listening party on May 18.

She’d rather be known for being talented
