‘The real killer is out there’, claim Zayn Rayyan’s parents

PETALING JAYA: The parents of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin claim that they are being persecuted and that the real killer of their child is still at large.

Ilyani Khuszairy, the lawyer for the deceased autistic child’s parents, said this during a remand extension application before Magistrate Ainaa Muhamad Kamal at the Magistrate’s Court here on Friday (June 7).

“Both of them (Zayn’s parents) are extremely stressed. You can see it on their faces. They cry when they are questioned and keep on saying that the real killer is out there.

“They are under pressure and hope that this case can be resolved properly as well as for the investigation to be transparent and fair so there is justice for their deceased child,” Sinar Harian reported her as saying.

During court proceedings Zayn Rayyan’s father could be constantly heard proclaiming his innocence.

“I am being persecuted, these are all lies!” Majoriti.com reported.

The situation escalated further when several others, believed to be family members, also started shouting when the couple was brought into court.

The couple, whose seven-day remand expires on Friday, were brought into the court wearing lock-up attire at 9.30am.

Zayn Rayyan was found dead in a creek near the Idaman Apartment area, Damansara Damai, Petaling Jaya, at 10pm in December 2023.

The police said that an autopsy revealed that injuries to the child’s neck and body were related to criminal acts.
