An entertainment industry official reported to Sports Chosun on June 27 that Taecyeon is filming a Netflix J-Drama titled Soulmate. It tells the story of a Japanese man, Ryu, and a Korean boxer, Yo Han. Over the course of a decade, the two meet in Seoul, Berlin, and Tokyo and become closer as they heal one another’s wounds.
Hayato Isomura will play opposite Taecyeon. He is a veteran Japanese actor known for Alice in Borderland, Kinou nani tabeta?, Kamen Rider Heisei Generations: Dr. Pac-Man vs. Ex-Aid & Ghost with Legend Rider, Kamen Rider Ghost, and many more.
The bromance is expected to go beyond mere friendship. Netizens are anticipating Taecyeon in his first potential BL (Boy Love) role.
This isn’t Taecyeon’s sole role in a Japanese project. Previously, he has been filming the new Japanese film La Grande Maison Paris, a film adaptation of the popular 2019 J-Drama La Grande Maison Tokyo. His character is Rick Yuan, a Korean-Canadian pastry chef. The idol-actor reportedly spoke three languages throughout filming: Korean, Japanese, and French.
Natsuki Obana (Takuya Kimura) and Rinko Hayami (Kyoka Suzuki) opens a new restaurant in Paris, France. Running a restaurant in a foreign country is very difficult for them. They even have a hard time sourcing satisfactory ingredients for their dishes. One day, due to a mistake at a gala dinner, Natsuki Obana promises his former mentor that if he doesn’t get three Michelin stars he will quit the restaurant and leave France.
