Miss Hong Kong 2020 Lisa-Marie Tse suffered a devastating tragedy on Sunday (Dec 15) when two of her three dogs died after allegedly eating poisoned meat while out on their walk in She Shan Village in Tai Po.
She revealed the harrowing details on Instagram yesterday (Dec 16), saying a “very disgusting, horrible and unforgivable” person had left “meat feast laced with poison” on the route.
“By the time I got to the girls, they started to drop and take seizures,” the 29-year-old wrote.
In an interview with HK01, she described how Peachy, her three-year-old mixed breed, collapsed “almost instantly” after ingesting the poisoned meat. Summer, her six-year-old Dachshund, collapsed 30 seconds later.
Lisa-Marie and her friend immediately carried the dogs to the roadside, where a passerby flagged down a taxi and rushed to a veterinary clinic in Tai Po but were too late.
“Peachy passed away in the car, and Summer was still alive when I handed him to the vet… From the moment they ate it until they died, it was no more than half an hour,” she said.
Her surviving dog, 13-year-old Leo, appeared to mourn the loss of his companions and let out a sorrowful cry when leaving the clinic.
According to the vet, the meat was laced with neurotoxins, a poison that rapidly affects the brain, and there was little that could be done.
Lisa-Marie believed the act was “well-planned out” as the food was presented like a prepared “meal”, with a whole roast Chicken, sausages and other meats laid out on banana leaves.
“This wasn’t accidental. It was planned. Just crazy!” she said.
Lisa-Marie stressed that she has always been cautious and would only let her dogs eat food that she prepared.
Summer and Peachy were usually allowed to roam freely, while Leo, who had poor eyesight, was kept on a leash. By the time she found them eating the food, it was too late.
She admitted feeling “utterly confused and destroyed” and has lost her faith in humanity.
Lisa-Marie has since filed a police report and called on the public to report any suspicious food to prevent other animals from being harmed.
