Miriam Yeung Wouldn’t Be So Forgiving If Husband Cheated on Her

It has been 18 years since Miriam Yeung (楊千嬅) appeared in a television drama. In Wonder Women <多功能老婆>, Miriam portrays a housewife who finds that her husband (played by Raymond Wong 黄浩然) cheats in their marriage. Confronting her husband’s lovers, Miriam eventually learns to overcome difficult challenges as a single woman and finds her inner confidence again.

Unlike her character, Miriam said she wouldn’t be as forgiving if her husband Real Ting (丁子高) cheat on her. She will most likely give up her marriage.

Filming Wonder Women allowed Miriam to learn more about herself. She realized that she can be overly emotional and hot-headed at times. Since she is very independent, she sometimes neglects to see things from Real’s perspective. Realizing that it’s important for her husband to feel needed too, Miriam said being overly independent is not necessarily a good trait. She exclaims, “Sometimes just relying on your husband makes him feel happy.”

Absent from television dramas for almost two decades, Miriam revealed the real reason for agreeing to film Wonder Women. She disclosed, “Why was I interested this time? It’s because I really love Producer Ella Chan’s (陈宝华) story. I thought the storyline is very relatable – especially when it touches on failed marriages and finding your true self after divorce again. Some people may continue living negatively and become unhappy, but Ella’s story is very encouraging and sends a positive message. It teaches us that you can always start over after a failed marriage and not just aimlessly wait for the husband to come back. We can always move on and invest in a new relationship. This subject is rarely talked about in dramas. Most importantly, this involves an older woman-younger man relationship!”
