Is Hong Kong actress Katy Kung leaving TVB? That seems to be the word on the street.
Recently, sharp-eyed netizens noticed changes on the actress’ Instagram, her bio’s business contact info, once listing her manager, was updated to simply “DM for inquiries”.
Although her profile still appears under “Contracted Female Artistes” on the official TVB website, the page hasn’t been updated to reflect her Best Actress at the TVB Anniversary Awards in January — another detail that has fans questioning her current status.
According to reports, Katy, 35, has not taken on any new drama roles for the past eight months.
She was last seen in 2024’s Big Biz Duel and her latest drama Hong Kong Exploration Map is slated to air later this year.
Interestingly, when BFF Grace Chan, who left TVB last year, was asked at a recent event whether her Katy had renewed her contract, she didn’t give a direct answer: “I’m not sure if Katy has renewed her contract, but we had a great time on our recent trip to Malaysia.”
During an interview in Malaysia last month, Katy admitted she has not received any new drama offers and was casual about her future career plans.
Since joining TVB in 2008, Katy has starred in nearly 40 dramas including Hong Kong Love Stories and Death By Zero.
In 2016, she gained recognition with her performance in Two Steps From Heaven, winning Best Supporting Actress at TVB Anniversary Awards. She took home Best Actress for Big Biz Duel this year, beating out hot fave Tavia Yeung.
