“Forgotten” Girl Group Member Seemingly Calls Out Her Agency In A Now-Deleted Post
Was she right to be upset?

On May 14, 2025 (KST), WJSN (Cosmic Girls) member Dayoung celebrated her 26th birthday. She took to her personal Instagram and thanked her friends and fans for making the day feel extra special.
Thanks to all of you, May 14 was such a happy day. Another warm May memory made. I love you all! Please let me give back as much as I’ve received. Hoping to see each other often this year…
— Dayoung
But in her latest Stories update (now deleted), Dayoung is speculated to have hinted at beef with STARSHIP ENTERTAINMENT, her management agency, over her birthday.

The update showed a screenshot of STARSHIP’s official Instagram feed, full of promotional posts—including celebratory messages for their managing artists. One of the more recent ones showed a happy birthday post for KiiiKiii‘s Jiyu…

…also born May 14.
Dayoung’s Story had a single “ㅎ” (Ha), often used to convey a scoff or a sarcastic nuance. And while it was deleted shortly after, fans believe it was the idol expressing her disappointment in having been “forgotten.”

Amid growing speculations about Dayoung’s since-deleted Stories update, some pointed out that STARSHIP did tweet a birthday message for her, before one about Jiyu, to be technical.
But most fans related with Dayoung’s apparent frustration and agreed that it could have felt unfair for Dayoung, especially given how WJSN has not had an official comeback for years now.

- “[STARSHIP] sucks at their job.”
- “LOL. STARSHIP is really good at upsetting both artists and their fans.”
- “No wonder she’s mad… How hard is it to just post one more thing on the official account?”
- “What is the need to ruin someone’s mood over something so trivial like this?”
- “What’s wrong with STARSHIP?”
- “Every little thing STARSHIP does is so off-putting.”
- “If STARSHIP renewed the contract with WJSN, then of course the company should take responsibility and give proper compensation. She trusted them and renewed. Why did they even go through with it if they couldn’t handle it?”
- “Yeah, this is seriously offensive. What’s wrong with them?”
- “What is even happening with WJSN? Did they disband or what?”
Dayoung followed up the deleted Story with another not-so-cryptic message reading, “When the rabbit dies, the dog is boiled.” This idiom in Korea refers to discarding or mistreating someone once they are no longer useful—like using a hunting dog to catch a rabbit, and then getting rid of the dog once the job is done.

Could it be that Dayoung feels kicked to the curb after all that she has gone through with WJSN and STARSHIP?
