MACC pledges action on Auditor-General’s report findings
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has vowed to take decisive action following revelations of governance weaknesses and potential misconduct highlighted in the Auditor-General’s report, recently tabled in Parliament.
The anti-graft agency stated it takes the findings seriously and will conduct a comprehensive review of the report, focusing particularly on instances that may involve criminal elements under the MACC Act 2009.
“We fully support the Auditor-General’s findings and will not limit our focus to governance issues alone. Any suspected criminal offence will be investigated thoroughly.
“To facilitate the probe, the commission will collaborate closely with the National Audit Department to obtain relevant information and documents necessary for investigations and follow-up actions,” the MACC said in a statement on Thursday (July 24).
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and accountability, the MACC stated it remains resolute in tackling all forms of abuse of power, misappropriation, and corruption.
“This is part of our ongoing efforts to uphold the highest standards of governance and to restore public confidence in the integrity of public institutions,” it stated.
The Auditor-General’s Report has drawn attention to several irregularities within government agencies and government-linked companies (GLCs), prompting calls for greater oversight and accountability.
