Vincent Wong Snubbed By Guests While Performing At China Banquet

Netizens question why the two-time TVB Best Actor has resorted to such gigs.

Since leaving TVB in 2023, Hong Kong actor Vincent Wong, 42, has been actively developing his career in China.

Beyond starring in dramas and appearing on variety shows, he has also been performing on live streams and taking on corporate event gigs.

Recently, a video of him performing at a dinner banquet circulated online, sparking heated debate.

Dressed in a tux, Vincent delivered a heartfelt rendition of Ekin Cheng’s classic hit ‘Willing To Replace You’.

Some guests were visibly delighted, filming his performance on their phones and even reaching out to shake his hand.

But not everyone was impressed. A number of guests appeared uninterested, glued to their phones and ignoring his performance entirely.

The result was an atmosphere that struck many netizens as awkward and even disheartening.

Online reactions were split. Some netizens expressed sympathy, lamenting that he was being “treated like a nobody” and questioning why he’s accepting such gigs.

“He’s after all a two-time TVB Best Actor — it’s heartbreaking,” one remarked, while another asked: “Vincent, are your debts that huge?”

Others, however, came to his defense. Many pointed out that there was “nothing wrong with earning an honest living through hard work,” and emphasised that this was no ordinary banquet.

The event was in fact a corporate gala hosted by cognac brand Martell, with Vincent appearing as a guest performer and brand ambassador.

As one fan put it: “It’s precisely because he’s a Best Actor that brands want to book him.”

He was a hit with the ladies.

Not so much the gents.

Vincent was there as Martell’s brand ambassador, okay?
