Asean Summit: HODs have discretion to approve WFH requests from public servants
PUTRAJAYA: Heads of departments (HODs) have been granted the authority to approve work-from-home (WFH) requests from civil servants living within a 25km radius of their offices, particularly those affected by anticipated traffic congestion during the upcoming Asean Summit at the end of this month.
“Eligible civil servants are encouraged to consult with their respective HODs for appropriate consideration. The implementation of this policy, however, must be based on existing procedures and conditions outlined in the prevailing regulations,” read the statement by the Public Service Department on Monday (Oct 13).
The 47th Asean Summit and related meetings, scheduled to take place from Oct 26 to 28 in Kuala Lumpur, are expected to be among the largest ever hosted by the regional bloc.
The department added that the WFH policy for public servants would continue to be applied flexibly, subject to current regulations.
“This policy, as provided under the Human Resource Service Circular SR.4.1.2,” it said. – Bernama
