Here’s How to Check If You’re Eligible for the RM300 BSH Given Out Starting Jan 20th

Good news! The BSH Living Assistance fund that was promised in Budget 2020 is set to take effect on 20th January.

As announced by finance minister, Lim Guan Eng in a statement made on 6th January, “The first phase of payments of RM300 for each household will be credited directly to the recipient’s respective bank accounts using the information from BSH 2019.”

If you’ve been living under a rock and have no clue what BSH is, it’s a form of financial assistance provided by the government for B40 low-income groups and is set to benefit over 3.8 million households with the RM 1 billion that was accredited to the fund in Budget 2020. Here are the groups that are eligible for the aid:

Household Income Below RM4,000

The MyBSH website detailed that aid will be given to three household income groups:

  • RM 1,000 for income under RM 2,000
  • RM 700 for income between the range of RM 2,001 and RM 3,000
  • RM 500 for income between RM 3,000 and RM 4,000.

The payments are to be given out in three phases this year with the first starting on 20th January.

But that’s not all! There’s also additional aid amounting to RM 120 that will be allocated for families with children aged 18 years and below. However, if parents have children with disabilities, they will receive the additional aid regardless of their child’s age.

Singles & OKU

Aside from the household category, 2020 BSH application is also open for singles over the age of 40 and OKU people with disabilities, as said by Lim in NST. These groups will receive a one-off payment in the second phase of payouts set to take place in May.

Application For BSH 2020

If you’ve already applied for BSH in 2019, don’t worry! You won’t have to register again. “No application is necessary if the applicant has been approved and there is no change of information details, as well as for disabled applicants listed as the Welfare Department’s e-Bantuan recipients”, said Lim.

However, if your application was not approved last year or you only recently became eligible for the fund this year, you have to apply for the BSH 2020 programme. You can start applying from the period of 1st February to 15th March!

Wondering where you can update your details? Aside from the MyBSH website, you can also update your details at any LHDN branch, HASil service centres, or Urban Transformation Centres (UTC).

If all your appeals are approved, the payment will be made in the second and third phase that is set to take place later this year. The minister added that cash payments will be made on 1st February to recipients who do not have bank accounts if they reside in rural areas.
