33 summonses issued, six sent for rehab in KLIA crime prevention ops

SEPANG: Crime prevention operations at KL International Airport Terminal One and Terminal Two on Saturday (Jan 24) saw 33 summonses issued and six people sent for rehabilitation.

KLIA OCPD Asst Comm Ravi Munusamy said in a statement that the joint operation was dubbed Ops Ehsan.

“This operation primarily focused on curbing social issues and criminal activities, particularly involving vagrants and beggars suspected of being under the influence of or abusing drugs, as well as individuals with past criminal records who may pose a threat to public safety and order within the airport area.

“Throughout the operation, a total of 114 individuals and 82 vehicles were inspected, with 33 summonses issued for various traffic offences around Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

“Police also handed six individuals over to the Sepang Social Welfare Office for rehabilitation and welfare assistance. One male Chinese national was arrested under the Immigration Act for overstaying his social visit pass, while two individuals were referred to the hospital for mental health examinations,” he said.
