Christmas Wonderland Is Back This Month — And There Are Exciting New Things To Look Forward To

It’s only November but we’re already gearing up for the ho-ho-holidays.

It’s time to sleigh as the largest Christmas fair in Singapore makes its return to Gardens by the Bay. Christmas Wonderland marks its sixth year with not just its signature larger-than-life light installations and snow blizzards, but will also be introducing a couple of new features.

Expect 10 new parades, productions and installations at this edition of Christmas Wonderland. There’s also the debut of a brand-new Christmas Parade to get you into the yuletide mood. So what if you haven’t got a Christmassy European trip planned? Tickets to Christmas Wonderland 2019 go on sale today (Nov 1). Can’t decide if you should fork out money for a ticket? Read on.

Razzle dazzle
The main attraction of the fairground is also probably the most Instagrammed Christmastime structures in Singapore. Over 360,000 bulbs will light up the sprawling festive extravaganza, illuminating the Gardens with over 40 luminaire light sculptures in new designs. There’ll also be a 50m tunnel-like light installation known as Walk of Peace, comprising over 60,000 bulbs, for that sparkling photo opp.

Light up
Also in the dazzling line-up is Asia’s tallest lumminarie Christmas tree, and this 21m-tall Spalliera (almost eight storeys high!), with three towers and a connecting roof. It’s inspired by the towers of San Gimignano, a hill town in Tuscany.

For the first time ever: The Christmas Parade
The press release promises a festive spectacle that includes floats like “Santa on a reindeer sleigh, dancing elves and Santarinas, cheeky penguins sneaking out of igloos and snowmen hiding in the Gardens” at this all-new parade on Fridays to Sundays and Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. On weekdays, it’s just Santa holding fort with his reindeer sleigh float.

What’s Christmas without carols?
Hang out at the gazebo where carolers and homegrown singers like Inch Chua entertaining you with festive tunes.

Time for snow-fies
The weather forecast at Christmas Wonderland? (Faux) snow every day. Blizzard Time, one of the most popular attractions at Christmas Wonderland, is back.

Head to the Christmas Village
Fuel up and shop up a (snow)storm at the Christmas Village’s 24 European style huts. The full line-up has yet to be announced, but here’s what we know now: you can look forward to limited F&B launches by Brewerkz and Haagen-Dazs. On top of that, the little ones will be thoroughly entertained by 18 traditional carnival games and rides such as the mini Viking ride, and an all-new swing chair carousel. Fun. The Flower Dome will also be hosting the Poinsetta Wishes floral display once more (separate ticket charges apply).

Christmas Wonderland is on Nov 29 to Dec 26 at Gardens by the Bay, 18 Marina Gardens Drive. Open Mon-Thur at 5pm-11pm; Fri-Sun, Dec 25-26 at 4pm-11pm; and Dec 24 at 4pm-12.30am. Tix from $6. Separate charges apply for certain attractions and rides. More info at www.christmaswonderland.sg.
