JJ Lin powers through concert despite suffering from effects of HFMD

Homegrown singer JJ Lin sure has had a tough month.

Earlier, the singer had caused a frenzy when he visited a hospital in Zhejiang to seek treatment. A video of the nurses taking turns to lie on the hospital bed he used was posted online. To add fuel to the fire, an anonymous netizen later made a post online, looking to sell “the IV drip bag JJ used”.

JJ’s company later released a statement condemning their actions and the hospital promised to discipline the staff members involved.

On November 2, JJ held a concert in Chongqing, where he admitted that he wasn’t “feeling too good”.

“I haven’t been feeling well for the last couple of days. It might be due to the fact that my body isn’t in good condition,” the singer said. “However, even if I don’t say anything (during the concert tonight), please continue to cheer for me tonight!”

As it turns out, JJ suffered from a high fever days before the concert, but did not suspect that anything was amiss at that point.

“I thought that it was just an ordinary cold at first, but later I was diagnosed with Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD). I currently have over 70 ulcers in my mouth,” the singer revealed. It was also noted that the disease is particularly unbearable for adults, as the rashes tend to be more itchy.

JJ later shared that he had gone on with the concert as he did not want to disappoint the fans who had tried their best to get tickets.

“I believe that there will come a point in everyone’s life where they’d feel like giving up. (When you reach) that point, I can offer you encouragement. I’ve been in your shoes before. If you ever encounter something like that, remind yourself that you have to persevere for the sake of the people who love you,” he said.
