Meghan Markle: Feeling Pressured to Have Second Child?

It’s only been six months since Meghan Markle gave birth to her first child, a boy named Archie.

But despite the fact that assigning monikers to living things is clearly not her strong suit (we kid!) Meghan is apparently experiencing relentless pressure to provide little Archie with a younger sibling.

For months now, we’ve been hearing rumors that Meghan is already pregnant with her second child, and that may well be the case.

She and Harry have been vocal about their desire to have two — and only two — children, and insiders say Meghan may have felt an urgency to get knocked up as quickly as possible.

According to UK tabloid Express, Meghan may have been led to feel that her window of opportunity for having a second child is narrow due to her age.

“The Duchess of Sussex was older when she had baby Archie and the pressure on women over 35 and certainly on women over 40 is enormous to agree to more medical procedures when giving birth,” says pregnancy expert Katharine Graves.

“She will, of course, be nearly two years older having her second baby, even if she became pregnant now, and it can become harder to conceive as you get older.”

Meghan is 38, and while it’s true that the risk of complications climbs with age, Graves points out that advances in medical technology have led to women safely giving birth well into their forties, and — in some cases — even in their fifties.

“But many women give birth in the first half of their 40s, so she has plenty of time to allow her body to recover from her first pregnancy before thinking of a second baby,” says Graves.

“From all we hear she is very aware of health and fitness and so she is likely to have a straightforward pregnancy.”

Graves noted that whenever she chooses to get pregnant, Meghan will receive the best medical care money can buy, and in all likelihood, she’ll be just fine should she decide to welcome a second child.

“Nature, of course, has it’s own ideas on the subject and pregnancy often doesn’t work out as planned.

“In the case of the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex their pregnancies seem to have work out much as planned so far.

Adding to the speculation that Meghan and Harry will soon be expecting — if they’re nor already — is comments made by longtime friend of the Royals Susie Stringfellow.
