The owner of the RM 10 banknote is finally found and the heartbreaking story behind the written message is making M’sians cry

It’s unethical to scribble on a banknote, but not when the words are to help you treasure the memory of your loved ones.

If you’ve been on the internet last weekend, you must have heard the story that goes around a RM 10 banknote. A woman who goes by the name Hyza posted on Facebook to look for the owner of the banknote that has words on it that read “The last cash given by dad on 21/5/2010 Friday 7.10 am. ” and ended with “I love you, dad.” Being touched by the heartfelt message, Hyza took it to Facebook to look for the original owner.

Other Malaysian netizens who were also moved by the message felt compelled to help share the post out. Over the weekend, it has gained 25,000 shares on the internet and thanks to the power of social media, we have found the rightful owner of the RM 10 note! Yay!

It’s revealed that the original owner of the banknote is Anne Malar Yesudass. She shared on her Facebook about the tales behind the heartbreaking message after contacting Hyza.  As it turns out, the RM 10 was given by Anne’s late father on May 21, 2010 as her allowance on that day when he dropped her off at school. Unfortunately, that was also the last day she saw him as he met with an accident and “returned to our Lord in that accident.”

Anne has been keeping the RM 10 note with her in her purse since that day. But her purse was stolen along with the note in it when she attended a camp in Malacca. According to Anne, “I was terribly sad that this valuable thing of my life was stolen together. I always remember about this the past one year. There was always an ache in my heart whenever I think of it.”

In the same post, Anne said that she’s very grateful towards Hyza and other kind-hearted Malaysians for bringing the banknote that carries truly sentimental value back to her.

Our faith in social media is finally being restored! Thank God and other kind Malaysian netizens for sharing Hyza’s post that Anne finally get to reunited with her invaluable note. Anyway, well done Malaysians for taking interest in looking for the owner of the lost RM 10 note.
