It truly is the time to be jolly, isn’t it? My heart literally fluttered over the photos of Joe Chen andddd *drum roll please* Ming Dao! The two are all smiles in front of the camera while comfortably nestled in each other’s arms. I’m sure I’m not the only one who is happy with this reunion which happened because the two were filming for Comedy Night 新春喜剧之夜 to be aired for New Year’s on CCTV.
It’s been over 14 years since I saw them in one frame! Granted that they were in the movie Let’s Cheat Together last year but they weren’t together together, if you know what I mean. Heck, they barely even had a scene! They had the perfect chemistry in The Prince Who Turns into a Frog that had my young heart swooning.
The Prince Who Turns into a Frog was the kind of show where just when everything seems to be going perfect, another conundrum arises. It had the oldest of tropes like when Ming Dao’s character finally found Joe Chen but got hit in the head and forgot all about her. Yet I loved the message behind it: Whatever the mind forgets, the heart remembers. And I guess the message is true for me because even though it was ages ago and I have forgotten much of the story, I’m still very fond of them. It was sad to see Ming Dao admitting that he thinks he’s no longer male lead material. He is one good actor with so much to offer but his career hasn’t been the same over the years.
See? I’m blabbering too much. I hope this picture is a sign that they’ll have a comeback drama but that would be pushing my luck too much, wouldn’t it?
