Rapid KL: Selected MRT & Bus Lines Open Till 1.30am For 2020 New Year’s Day Countdown

If you love witnessing the atmosphere of the annual New Years countdown in the city but hate the traffic jam that comes after it, we’ve got good news for you!

Rapid KL just announced the extension of operating hours for 13 of its LRT, MRT, monorail and express bus lines to 1:30 a.m. on 31st December. In addition to these lines, 14 Rapid KL buses and MRT shuttle bus services will also be running for an extended period past midnight.

The lines that will be extended include:

LRT Kelana Jaya Line 

• USJ 7
• Pasar Seni
• Masjid Jamek
• KLCC
• Ampang Park

LRT Ampang/Sri Petaling Line 

• Bandaraya
• Masjid Jamek

MRT Sungai Buloh – Kajang Line 

• Pasar Seni
• Bukit Bintang
• Maluri
• Mutiara Damansara

KL Monorail Line 

• Bukit Bintang
• Raja Chulan

BRT Sunway Line 

• Sunway Lagoon

1. As for stations not included in the list, Rapid KL states that they “will close according to normal operation hours but passengers can still exit normally” from these stations.

On the other hand, the bus lines that will extend their operation hours are:

Rapid KL Bus Route

• 751 (from Taman Sri Muda to Pasar Seni Hub)
• 772 (from Subang Suria to Pasar Seni Hub)
• 640 (from Taman Sentosa to Pasar Seni Hub)
• 180 (from Taman Dato’ Senu to Pasar Seni Hub)
• 600 (from Puchong Utama to Pasar Seni Hub)
• 300 (from Pandan Mewah to Munshi Abdullah)
• 220 (from Taman Melawati to Munshi Abdullah)
• 450 (from Terminal Kajang to Lebuh Pudu Hub)
• 173 (from Taman Jasa Utama to Medan Pasar Hub)

MRT Feeder Bus Route

• T802 & T803 (from MRT Kwasa Sentral)
• T460 (from MRT Stadium Kajang)
• T101 & T105 (Combined), T102, T103 (from MRT Sungai Buloh)

BRT Bus Route

• Sunway Lagoon Station
• USJ 7, South Quay
• SunU-Monash, Sun Med
• Mentari & Sunway Setia Jaya

However, for the BRT bus route, only Sunway Lagoon station will extend its hours to 1:30 a.m. Other stations (USJ 7, SunU Monash, Mentari & Sunway Setia Jaya) will only extend their operation hours to 1:00 a.m.

In their Facebook post, Rapid KL encouraged the public to take public transport after the New Years countdown to avoid being caught in a traffic jam after the celebration, as events and live shows will be held in multiple areas of the city.

They also advised citizens to be mindful of their own safety when attending these events, assuring passengers that they can contact station staff for assistance if needed.
