KKM: “Even If You Have No Symptoms, You Can Still Be Tested Positive For Covid-19”

It’s Day 17 of the Movement Control Order and for most Malaysians, the highlight of the day is the 5pm press conference by our Health Director-General, Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. We can’t thank him and our Ministry of Health enough for updating us regarding the Covid-19 situation in the country daily.

In yesterday’s press conference, Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah explained that it’s possible to test positive for the virus even if you’re not facing any symptoms. However, he also said that tests will only be conducted if the patient is asymptomatic BUT has been in close contact with any of the cases.

“We have detected earlier that those who don’t have symptoms can also be positive even though the World Health Organization (WHO) advised at that time to only conduct tests if the patient shows symptoms to the virus.”

He added that there have been four asymptomatic positive cases and the patients have been isolated in Hospital Sungai Buloh. According to The Star, China reported 1,300 asymptomatic positive cases on the 1st of April following public concern over people who have tested positive but are not showing symptoms.

Make sure to get yourself tested if you’ve come in close contact with any of the cases. Holding out on vital information like this is simply selfish and will not do anyone any good. For the rest of us, you know what to do, just STAY HOME!
