Brian Tse Replaces Jackson Lai in “Seven Princesses”

In April, TVB actor Brian Tse‘s (謝東閔) girlfriend Ashley Chu (朱智賢) was caught cheating with married actor Jackson Lai (黎振燁). Though the latter two were caught sharing cake in a car, Brian quickly got over his anger and forgave Ashley for her betrayal. The latest turn of events made the situation even more awkward when Brian was asked to replace Jackson in a role for upcoming drama Seven Princesses <七公主> as the latter had been frozen by the station as a result of his unsavory public image.

Appearing publicly to speak up for his girlfriend despite being understandably hurt, many netizens felt sorry for Brian in the aftermath of the cheating scandal. Three months following the episode, however, their relationship seemed to have altered as Brian had appeared cold when asked about Ashley in an interview, and revealed that the two were not living together, only meeting up occasionally since they were both busy. Time has made Brian forgive Ashley, and he later clarified that he and Ashley were “still dating” and “in a good relationship.”

Stepping in for his new role as Jackson’s replacement in Seven Princesses naturally reminded many people of Ashley’s incident, but that did not seem to bother Brian. During the filming of a rooftop scene at the Peak recently, Brian appeared relaxed and in good spirits. Dressed in a sleek black-tailored suit for his character, he was spotted chatting and laughing with onscreen partner Moon Lau (劉佩玥) when the cameras were not rolling.

In the new drama, Brian plays a rich man’s son romantically involved with Moon’s character. One of TVB’s heavyweight dramas for 2020, Seven Princesses also stars Priscilla Wong (黃翠如), Samantha Ko (高海寧) and Rosina Lam (林夏薇) alongside four up-and-coming actresses Kaman Kong (江嘉敏), Judy Kwong (鄺潔楹), Hera Chan (陳曉華), and Moon Lau in equally important lead roles, with each actress representing a female from a different age group in seven different story arcs.
