DBKL Shuts Down Cheras Massage Centre For Running Illegal Same-Sex Activities

Yesterday, 29 March, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) raided a massage place conducting same-sex activities for foreigners in Warisan City View, Cheras.

According to Utusan TV, the Special Action Operation Against Massage Premises (GAY) that took place in the evening was carried out by the DBKL Enforcement Department (JPK), which resulted in the arrest of eight foreigners.

Following information gathered from the investigation, it was found that immoral activities took place on the second floor of the premises, involving eight rooms used as massage parlours and places to facilitate same-sex activities.

In a statement, DBKL said that the results of the investigation found that the premises did not have a valid licence as a massage centre.

“The raid carried out on this premises found a total of five men from Vietnam, Syria and Indonesia acting as masseurs. In addition, two Myanmar nationals who were customers and an Indonesian national who was the caretaker of the premises was detained,” DBKL said.

DBKL implemented enforcement action by issuing a compound notice under UUK 3 (1), Business and Industrial Trade Licencing By-Laws (WPKL) 2016 and confiscated 25 pieces of equipment found on the premises such as condoms, lubricants and other materials.

The action to close the premises immediately was also carried out under Section 101 (1) (v), Local Government Act 1976.

“This action is done in accordance with the provisions of the law, jurisdiction, and S.O.P DBKL.”

They also added that such operations and raids will be frequently carried out from time to time.
