Will Smith Wins Best Movie Actor at SAG Awards for ‘King Richard’; Thanks The Williams Familyjessie tan
Will Smith is singing praises after picking up the Best Male Movie Actor honor at the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night (February 27).
The 53-year-old actor beat out Javier Bardem, Benedict Cumberbatch, Andrew Garfield and Denzel Washington for the honor for his role as Richard Williams in King Richard.
After calling the honor “one of the greatest moments” of his career, Will raved about the real-life legacy Richard, who is the father of Venus and Serena Williams.
“Richard Williams is a dreamer like no one you’ve ever known,” he shared on stage. “He has a power of belief that borders on insanity and sometimes tips over the border, which is absolutely necessary to take something from impossible to possible.”
Will also shared his thanks to Venus and Serena for giving their blessing for the movie.
“When I got the call and you watched the movie and you said you loved it, I just want to say thank you very much,” he shared. “It was my deepest pleasure to honor your family and to tell your story to the world. Thank you all.”
