Louis Koo Pays Employees HK$4 Million in Salaries
Friends with Louis Koo (古天樂) for years, Shawn Yue (余文樂) and Daniel Wu (吳彥祖) commented on the former’s incredibly strong work ethic. As a guest for Shawn’s self-produced online show, Inside Out, Daniel discussed everything from race cars, family, to their careers. Since becoming fathers, both feel that their attitudes have changed.
After having children, Daniel developed a very clear goal on being an involved father. “I didn’t want to keep filming, and not have my children recognize me and not know what type of person their father is. Even if you earn a lot of money for their future, you will regret not spending this time with them.”
They both agreed that they have reached the age where they do not want to film as much. With a prolific career, Daniel is more selective with his roles now. Shawn shared that he feels that Daniel wants to race cars now, because it is harder to do it later on in life.
They also discussed Louis Koo’s admirable work ethic. Shawn had previously asked Louis why he does not take a break even though he is so tired, and why he is so focused on earning money. Louis had responded, “You don’t think I want to stop? Do you know how much salaries I have to pay my employees in a month? If I don’t work, then they won’t have jobs.”
Shawn added that Louis has a great sense of responsibility, and he treats his employees as his family. He also feels responsible for the film industry, because he believes that filming a movie will create more jobs for everyone. He disclosed that Louis had admitted to paying $4 million Hong Kong dollars in salaries every month–no wonder the actor has to work so hard!
