Meta To Shut Down Facebook Live Shopping From October 1st Onwards

Just recently, Meta, the parent company of Facebook released a statement mentioning that they will be closing down Facebook’s live shopping feature.

Facebook live shopping was introduced back in 2018 for users to sell their items online. It became a hit back in 2020 when the pandemic hit as people around the globe were hit with a stay-at-home order.

In it’s business help page, Meta has said that, “As consumer’s focus are shifting to short videos, we are shifting our focus to Reels (Facebook and Instagram’s short video product feature content.”

After October 1, users will still be able to use the live function to broadcast events and other activities, but they will not be able to tag products or create a playlist for their products in their livestream.

Users that are looking to engage with their followers can still tag their products on their Instagram Reels but Meta has yet to mention whether or not Facebook Reels will have the same function.

As of now, Meta has confirmed that the tag product/create playlist for product feature will be removed starting from October 1.
