Matthew Perry Clarifies His Comments About Keanu Reeves in New Book

Matthew Perry is clearing up his comments about Keanu Reeves.

In his new book, “Friends, Lovers & The Big Terrible Thing”, the 53-year-old former Friends star made some comments about Keanu, which didn’t fly over to well with the internet.

When discussing making the movie A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon, in which he played River Phoenix‘s best friend, Matthew reflected on River‘s death after making the movie in 1993 due to an overdose.

“River was a beautiful man inside and out and too beautiful for this world, it turned out. It always seems to be the really talented guys who go down,” he wrote. “Why is it that the original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die, but Keanu Reeves still walks among us?”

This is just the first of two digs he makes about Keanu in the book.

After the uproar online, Matthew released a statement to People.

“I’m actually a big fan of Keanu,” he clarifies. “I just chose a random name, my mistake. I apologize. I should have used my own name instead.”
