Angela Bassett Predicted to Make Marvel History with Oscar Nomination for ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’

There’s a good chance that Angela Bassett could make Marvel history during the 2023 awards season thanks to her work in the new movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

The 64-year-old actress is predicted to earn a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the upcoming Oscars for her role as Ramonda.

If Angela does get the nomination, she’ll become the first person to ever receive an acting nomination for a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie!

Angela previously received a Best Actress nomination back in 1994 for her work in the movie What’s Love Got to Do with It. She hasn’t been nominated since, so she’s long overdue.

The Hollywood Reporter currently has Angela in the number one spot on the Best Supporting Actress predictions while Variety has her in the number two spot.

Angela won’t be the first actor to receive an Oscar nomination for a comic book role though. Both Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix won Oscars for their work as Joker from the DC Comics world.
