Martha Stewart Calls Out Remote Work & Says It Will Send America ‘Down The Drain’

Martha Stewart isn’t mincing her words about how she feels about remote work.

The 81-year-old entrepreneur opened up in an interview with Footwear News, where she shared her stance on the practice, which has taken over since the start of the pandemic in 2020, and has continued to thrive.

Martha revealed to the outlet that she is a big supporter of in-office work over remote any day.

“I continued to work five days a week,” she says of what she was doing during that first year of the pandemic.

Martha then added that she feels “you can’t possibly get everything done working three days a week in the office and two days remotely.”

“Look at the success of France with their stupid…you know, off for August, blah blah blah. That’s not a very thriving country,” she shared. “Should America go down the drain because people don’t want to go back to work?”

This isn’t the first time she’s spoken out about her work ethic, while also taking aim at others’.

In a 2021 interview with Harper’s BazaarMartha said that she didn’t understand why employers shouldn’t be able to call employees anytime.

“If you can’t talk on a Sunday and you take umbrage that I’m calling you on a Sunday — you know, if you are a terribly religious person, I take that into consideration…It’s exciting! Business is exciting. I want people to feel that way about business.”
