Three found dead in car in Johor

BATU PAHAT: Two men and a woman were found dead on Tuesday (July 18) night in a car parked at the Yong Peng lay-by (R&R) near here.

Batu Pahat acting OCPD Supt Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said members of the public noticed the car with its engine and air-conditioning running at around 9pm at the stop, southbound on the North-South Expressway.

“Onlookers sensed something was off when they saw the three occupants motionless for some time. The doors of the car were locked and the windows shut.

“When the three of them did not respond, the onlookers smashed one of the windows to unlock the doors in an effort to wake them up.

“But when they realised that the three were unconscious, they called the police for help,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (July 19).

An ambulance also arrived at 10.10pm but the medical team pronounced all three dead.

Supt Shahrulanuar Mushaddat said the victims, aged 23 to 27, were Myanmar nationals and their bodies had been taken to Hospital Sultanah Nora Ismail for further action.

“We believe that they were travelling from Genting Highlands towards Taman Air Biru in Pasir Gudang, Johor Baru in a borrowed car.

“They were said to have made a stop at the lay-by to rest before continuing on with their journey,” he said.

He added that the case was classified as a sudden death report.
