Samsung News Site Mistakes Stray Kids’ Lee Know For BTS’s Suga

It took them five tries to get it right!

Stray Kids‘ Lee Know was somehow mistaken for BTS‘s Suga?!

It’s hard to mix the two up. Sure, they have a couple of things in common. They are both K-Pop idols in two of the hottest boy groups ever. They’re also both current ambassadors for Samsung.

But they’re not two persons that one usually mistakes for the other due to appearance. Yet, someone mistook Lee Know for Suga…

Korean tech company Samsung held its annual 2023 Galaxy UNPACKED event in Korea, featuring many celebrity guests, including BTS’s Suga, TWICE‘s JeongyeonIVE‘s Jang Wonyoung, and Stray Kids.

As this is the biggest event of the year for any Samsung fan, SamMobile, the self-identified “leading source for the latest Samsung news, firmware, product reviews, tutorials, tips, and more,” posted updates via Twitter during it. So, when Stray Kids arrived, SamMobile a clip of Lee Know, captioned, “Look who’s here! Lee Know,” along with the group’s hashtags and handle.

While it has 1.5M views and 30.7K likes at the time of writing, many of its comments are less about praising Lee Know but rather teasing the social media manager. They pointed out the post’s edit history.

One of Twitter’s many updates includes the ability to edit tweets. There are a few catches, though: you have to do it within 30 minutes of posting, you can only edit it up to five times, and netizens can view your edit history.

So, viewing the edit history of SamMobile’s post of Lee Know revealed that the social media manager originally referred to him as Suga from BTS, even including the hashtags, purple heart emojis, and tagging the group.

Shortly after, Suga was removed. Yet, everything else was left the same.

Finally, they realized it was not a BTS member. It was Lee Know! However, the social media manager referred to him as “Lee Min-ho,” his real name rather than his stage name.

The social media manager even updated it to include #LeeMinHo.

It was updated yet again to change Lee Min-ho to Lee Know. The hashtag was changed too, but still, there was no mention of Stray Kids.

Now, we finally came to the current and final version, which includes all the correct hashtags and identification.

It was a close call, as the social media manager used up all five chances to edit! But deleting was always an option.
