Coco Lee’s fans can livestream the singer’s funeral on July 31 and Aug 1

Coco Lee’s funeral will be held today and tomorrow (July 31 and Aug 1) at the Grand Hall of the Hong Kong Funeral Home in Hong Kong.

Fans in Hong Kong who wish to pay their final respects can do so between 6pm and 10pm today.

For fans overseas, there will be a livestream of the funeral from 4pm to 7pm today (July 31) and 9.30am to 10.30am tomorrow (Aug 1) on Lee’s sister Nancy’s YouTube channel.

“I know that Coco’s fans are from all over the world, and there are many of them who are unable to attend her memorial service. So on July 31 at 4pm, I will be doing a livestream here,” Nancy said in a short message on YouTube.

“I hope that I will not leave out any one of Coco’s fans. In this very difficult period, let’s accompany Coco on her final journey. Thank you everyone.”

The pop diva’s fans in Hong Kong have bought advertisements featuring the singer at bus stops across the city, according to South China Morning Post.

Nancy told the publication that she’s grateful for what Lee’s fans have done in honour of her sister.

“I’m very thankful to these fans, knowing she’s loved by so many and they did it all voluntarily too.

“One important message I took away from their advertisement was that Coco broke barriers on the international stage so many more could have that door opened for them,” Nancy said.

The advertisements with slogans such as “The Chinese voice on the world stage”, “The record-breaking pop diva of the generation” and “The first Chinese artist to break into Western music world” can be seen at 24 bus stops all across Hong Kong.

Hong Kong media also reported that Lee’s family has chosen the portrait for the singer’s funeral.

The photo is from the singer’s 2013 album, Illuminate, as the family felt Lee’s smile in the picture resembles an angel’s.

The 48-year-old singer died in a Hong Kong hospital on July 5 following a suicide attempt, her family said.

In a statement released on Weibo on July 5, Lee’s sister Nancy said that the singer had been suffering from depression for several years.
