Intel shows S’gor no longer a Pakatan stronghold, claims Azmin

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim put off travel to Terengganu on Sunday (Aug 6) because intelligence reports say Selangor is no longer a Pakatan Harapan stronghold, says Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.

“I was informed by journalists this morning that his schedule was actually in Terengganu. The latest reports show that Selangor is no longer a Pakatan fixed deposit,” said Azmin.

“So, he had to return and campaign in Selangor and his first choice was Hulu Kelang and Bukit Antarabangsa,” added Azmin at a ceramah in Taman Sri Keramat on Sunday night.

The Perikatan Nasional information chief then said that while Anwar could go on the attack, Bukit Antarabangsa is a stronghold for the opposition coalition.

According to sources, it is understood that Anwar postponed a visit to Terengganu on Sunday to campaign in Taman Medan, Hulu Kelang and Bukit Antarabangsa instead.

Meanwhile, Azmin’s ceramah in Taman Sri Keramat was seen drawing a crowd despite passing midnight.

During the ceramah, Azmin mocked Anwar with the “hoi hoi ya hoi” chant, which is a hip hop song about kleptocracy by local rapper Altimet.

Altimet – whose name is Syed Ahmad Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman Alhadad – is Pakatan’s Lembah Jaya candidate.

Azmin then criticised Anwar Ibrahim for travelling via a helicopter to a Felda settlement in Kedah, saying that government facilities should not be abused during state election campaigns.

“The Prime Minister is allowed to use the helicopter. But that’s for official government affairs, and not during campaigning in the state elections,” said Azmin.

“That is why the operating costs of the country have skyrocketed,” he added.

On Aug 5, Anwar had said that he had the right to use the helicopter as it belonged to the government.

Anwar had travelled via a helicopter to Jeneri and Kupang on Aug 4.

Polling for Selangor, Kelantan, Terengganu, Negri Sembilan, Kedah, and Penang is on Aug 12.
