MELAKA: The conferment of a Datukship by Melaka Yang-di Pertua Negeri Tun Dr Mohd Ali Rustam is a precious gift to the minorities, says Parti Punjabi Malaysia (PPM) secretary-general Datuk Amarjeet Singh.

Amarjeet, conferred the Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka (DMSM) which carries the title Datuk on Thursday (Aug 24), attributed this recognition to the spirit of oneness in Barisan Nasional.

He said this was shown by the way the coalition had worked together to fulfil beneficial agendas for all Malaysians.

“My party and I will work harder to serve all Malaysians.

“We will continue the traditions and aspirations of Barisan to uphold unity and ensure political stability in the country,” he said when interviewed.

Amarjeet also thanked Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Tun Dr Mohd Ali for honouring PPM.

“It’s a huge recognition for our party,” said the father of two.

Selangor-born Amarjeet, 56, has been with PPM for the past 15 years.

He has been secretary-general since 2012 and is also actively involved in several NGOs.
