Former Third-Generation K-Pop Idol Has Won A Court Case Accusing Her Of Bullying

The accuser was even fined for the case.

A K-Pop idol getting accused of bullying can absolutely ruin their career, whether it ends up being true or false. It’s a serious accusation that definitely shouldn’t be taken lightly, and everything should be done to determine the truth of the matter when deciding how to respond to such accusations.

Even popular and successful K-Pop idols can have their reputation completely destroyed by a bullying accusation, so when an idol from a lesser-known group or label is in the same situation, there’s even less likelihood that they’ll be able to come back from it.

That seems to be at least part of why former BerryGood member Daye ended up going on an indefinite hiatus back in May 2019, after she was accused of bullying by an alleged former schoolmate from middle school. Her reason for going on hiatus was due to her health, but she never did return as a fully active member before BerryGood disbanded in May 2021.

Her accuser claimed that Daye tormented her with violence and sexual remarks after finding out that said accuser was close friends with a boy that Daye liked. Actions that the former idol was accused of included tripping the accuser with her leg, hitting her on the back of the head, pulling the strings of her underwear, and touching her chest.

Daye vehemently denied the accusations back when they happened, claiming that while she and her former classmate had had a fight over a trivial matter, she thought they had reconciled. Her agency at the time also came to her defense, and promised to take legal action against the person claiming to be Daye’s victim.

It seems that those weren’t just empty words, as Daye did end up going to court against her accuser. And now, over four years later, the former BerryGood member has been ruled as innocent and won the court case!

Her accuser was even fined 2 million won (about $1,500 USD) for the case.

Netizens are glad to see a case where a K-Pop idol that has been falsely accused of bullying has come out on top, even though Daye still sadly might have missed time as an idol because of the situation.

Others, however, feel like the fine that was charged was much too small for the damage caused to Daye.

Hopefully this will at least help prevent others from falsely accusing idols of bullying, and we wish the best for Daye and her future!
