Bumiputra individuals can now invest maximum RM1mil in Amanah Hartanah Bumiputera scheme, says Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR: Bumiputra individual investors can now buy up to a maximum RM1mil in the property-related Amanah Hartanah Bumiputera Scheme (AHB), said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister announced the increase in the maximum investment limit for individual bumiputra investors when launching an additional RM1bil AHB units on Tuesday (Oct 17).

This is the fifth increase since the AHB scheme was launched in 2010, which was aimed at giving bumiputras the opportunity to hold a stake in prime commercial properties in the cities.

The AHB comes under the purview of Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad (PHB) which currently manages some five billion units.

The additional RM1bil units are from PHB’s asset injections including KPJ Specialist Hospital Damansara 2, Marlborough College in Iskandar Puteri, Menara 1 Sentrum in Kuala Lumpur, Wisma Cosplant in Subang Jaya and Maersk Warehouse in Shah Alam.

PHB currently has assets worth about RM11bil in prime commercial properties in several locations.

In his welcoming speech, PHB chairman Tan Sri Ahmad Nizam Salleh said PHB aims to increase its overall assets to RM25bil by 2030 through its transformation plan.

Currently, he said that AHB units are held by some 75,000 individual bumiputra investors and 16 bumiputra investment companies.
